Who
knows what lost and opal language Roberto Cami uses to map the
territory with phosphorescent and unresolved things, impersonal and
twisted spaces at the same time?
Is
a not definition, as if to set it schould mean to conclude, hence
changes that allow a broader reading.
The compositions land into
an opaque and geomantic abstraction, out of built overestimates.
Better
de-construct, bounding in a new volume the current Architecture
through cuts, segmentations, the temptation of crude grandiloquence,
the twentieth century scaffolding, the only possibile rigor of
ecology. Fragmentation
of not opportunity defines more deeply an intermediate target,
prolonging the fine anguish of contemporary aesthetics.
The city
runs through all that, impossible to re-create, the city is a
sporadic
word written on the sporadic fabric. We can survive it going missing through it too.
Chissà quale lingua perduta e d’opale usa Roberto Cami per mappare il territorio con fosforescenze, irrisoluzioni, spazi intrecciati e impersonali al tempo stesso ?
Una non definizione, come se definire fosse concludere, da qui alterazioni che permettono una più ampia lettura.
Le composizioni approdano ad un’astrazione opaca e geomantica, fuori da sopravvalutazioni del costruito. Meglio de-costruire, rilegando in un nuovo volume l’Architettura attuale attraverso i tagli, le segmentazioni, la tentazione grezza della magniloquenza, le impalcature novecentesche, il rigore solo possibile dell’ecologia. La frammentazione della non opportunità definisce più profondamente un obiettivo intermedio, prolungando la sottile angoscia dell’estetica contemporanea. Nel mezzo scorre la città, impossibile da ri-creare, la città è una sporadica parola scritta sullo sporadico tessuto. A lei si può sopravvivere anche andando smarriti per essa.

A
path for constructions, everyday performances for us.
In a
historic moment hard to Bologna, beset by traditionalist nostalgia
who ironically refer to a progressive past, it took a Genoese
architect for a glimpse of our city from a different perspective,
flying over the clichés and the most banal representative.
The
idea comes from his daily occupation from which knows how to
germinate, with his artist's eye, an unexpected vision. Cami observes
sites as human and constructive performances that evolving under the
professional look of who participate and that indifferent or even
some annoyed neighbor.
It 's a real rebirth that emerges, for
everyone, and so Cami decided to devote himself to the documentation
of this bio-building evolution with the professionalism that
characterizes him. Asking permission, winning bureaucracies and
distrustes of those working in the yard and, day after day,
tirelessly recording the work in progress that is updated in an
apparent triviality under the walking people eyes. There is no secret
in his shots, except to those who can look beyond the structures that
grow, taking on different meanings each time.
This
is the goal by Roberto Cami, take the Einfühlung that lies within
each of our homes as soon as they are built.
He likes the theme of
memory, he photographes for keeping alive the perspective destined to
disappear while materials and structures layer themselves, ensuring
that the vision of the shots in succession builds in itself an
inferential memory.
Cami rewrites so, almost demiurgic architectures that he technically only recorded with "poor", sometimes just a mobile phone, offering frames that come to make the building to which they belong unrecognizable. He associates without regards broader visions and details, with contaminations to get them new to the eyes of all. And it is, in fact, in the impermanence that takes full sense the picture intensity that hides and reveals behind mirror glass of the icy geometry as opaque cements the vital magic of a place that is already destined to receive the daily of who will live in.
"So
I take the subject picture depicting for something that was there as
the natural sign of going on and appearing, which escapes and leaves
a sensation, just a moment, but that we don't often have sensitivity
and time to observe and feel. "
That
is the first step in what we hope will be a long journey through the
construction projects of our city in the coming years thanks to the exhibition "bologna under construction.contributions" a path for sites, everyday performance that shows our eyes the hidden secret of a final product intended to contain our lives.
Un percorso per cantieri, performance quotidiane destinate a noi.
In un momento storico faticoso per Bologna, assediata da nostalgie passatiste che si richiamano paradossalmente a un trascorso progressista, ci voleva un architetto genovese per gettare uno sguardo sulla nostra città da una prospettiva diversa, sorvolando sui luoghi comuni e su quelli più banalmente rappresentativi.
L’idea nasce dalla sua quotidiana professione dalla quale sa far germinare, con l’occhio proprio dell’artista, una visione inaspettata. Cami osserva i cantieri come performance umane e costruttive che evolvono sotto lo sguardo professionale di chi vi partecipa e quello indifferente, o addirittura infastidito, di qualche vicino.
E’ una palingenesi vera e propria quella che ne emerge, alla portata di tutti, e così Cami decide di dedicarsi alla documentazione di questa evoluzione bio-edile con la professionalità che lo contraddistingue. Chiede permessi, supera burocrazie e diffidenze di chi opera in cantiere e, giorno dopo giorno, registra instancabilmente il work in progress che si aggiorna in un’apparente banalità sotto gli occhi dei passanti. Non c’è segreto nei suoi scatti, se non quello di chi sa guardare oltre alle strutture che crescono, assumendo significati diversi di volta in volta.
Questo l’obiettivo che si dà Roberto Cami, cogliere l’einfühlung che sta dentro a ciascuna delle nostre abitazioni nel momento stesso in cui vengono poste in essere.
E’ il tema della memoria ad essergli caro, fotografa per mantenere in vita una prospettiva destinata a sparire man mano che materiali e strutture si stratificano, facendo sì che la visione in successione delle inquadrature costruisca in sé un ricordo inferenziale.
Cami riscrive così, quasi demiurgicamente, le architetture che ha tecnicamente solo registrato con un mezzo “povero”, a volte semplicemente un cellulare, offrendo inquadrature che arrivano a rendere irriconoscibile il fabbricato a cui appartengono. Associa senza riguardi visioni allargate e dettagli, contaminandole per farle nuove agli occhi di tutti. Ed è proprio nella provvisorietà che assume pieno senso l’intensità dello scatto che nasconde e rivela dietro l’algida geometria di vetri a specchio come di opachi cementi la magia vitale di un luogo che è già destinato a raccogliere il quotidiano di chi lo abiterà.
“Così la foto a soggetto la scatto per qualcosa che c’è stato, il segno naturale del procedere e del manifestarsi, che sfugge e lascia una sensazione, appunto, un momento, ma che spesso non abbiamo più la sensibilità né il tempo di cogliere e di percepire”.
Ecco dunque la prima tappa di quello che speriamo sarà un lungo viaggio attraverso i progetti costruttivi della nostra città nei prossimi anni grazie alla rassegna “Bologna in costruzione.contributi”, un percorso per cantieri, performance quotidiane che squadernano davanti ai nostri occhi l’intimo segreto di un prodotto finale destinato a contenere le nostre vite.

It’s a photographic study that plays between the detail and an architectural and natural set. A report by a certain issue ideology so that the two pictures of each image, that are superimposed, refer to a thematic dialogue, especially from an aesthetic point of view.
E’ una ricerca fotografica che gioca tra il particolare e un’ambientazione di tipo architettonico naturalistico. Un rapporto di una certa ideologia tematica in modo che le due fotografie di ciascuna immagine, che sono sovraimpresse, rinviano come ad un dialogo tematico, soprattutto da un punto di vista estetico.

Careful
observer, the architect Roberto Rodolfo Cami turned his project
research
to the invastigation of the space and to its
relationships with architecture and
environment through the use of
photography. Subject
of his study is the
shipyard, voted at a special enhancement of
the architectural developments.
The
site is interpreted as "land art" where they live changes
and developments related to human activities, like a container of
forces, masses and volumes, with numerous layers of operations. In
the Cami view Architecture is nothing but the ultimate result of a
series of energy put in place by man. Is the the Logos ovation, the
photo celebration of the merger between intellectual and closely
manual capacity.
Cami even explores the concepts of emptiness and
absence, of fatality and enforcement in the natural place landscape
now completely urbanized.
Attento osservatore, l’architetto Roberto Rodolfo Cami rivolge la sua ricerca
progettuale all’indagine dello spazio e alle sue relazioni con l’architettura e
l’ambiente mediante l’utilizzo della fotografia. Oggetto dei suoi studi è il
cantiere, votato ad una particolare esaltazione degli sviluppi architettonici.
Il cantiere viene interpretato come “territorio artistico” dove dimorano
cambiamenti ed evoluzioni legate alle attività umane, al pari di un contenitore
di forze, masse e volumi con innumerevoli stratificazioni operative. Nell’ottica
di Cami l’architettura non è altro che il risultato ultimo di una serie di energie
messe in opera dall’uomo. E’ l’ovazione del Logos, la celebrazione fotografica
della fusione tra le doti intellettuali e le capacità strettamente manuali.
Cami esplora persino i concetti di vuoto e assenza, di fatalità ed esecuzione nel
panorama di un luogo naturale ormai completamente urbanizzato.

The
whole of juxtaposed fragments in the pursuit of detail as the maximum
synthesis of illusory dimension of the image lies the tangibility of
a supernatural world stolen to its time and to an indefinitely time
returned.
This series of performances designed and produced by
Roberto Cami seems to reveal hidden connections between "human
sciences" and "technical sciences", in a form of
symbolism that transfigures the natural element in the boldest form
of spiritual imagination.
The
artist movements look for expressive contaminations that do not
create aesthetic misunderstandings: any attempt to discover a
natural organic principle finds its direct correspondence in
transcendental suggestions.
The image of the cat - but, more
generally, of the feline - is mixed and confused with harsh elements
of a rough nature, reminiscent of a kind of pain and suffering
spirituality. The mimetic animal in excellence, dialectical and
mystical, feminino and anthropomorphic (think of all the various
interpretations of the cat in Balthus)
participates
to the artist visionary which magnetic element, with intuitively
mystical and metaphysical connotations.
In
that sense, the images created by Roberto Cami in their mix of
elusive details, never fully defined, form a sort of liquid visual
harmony, in the center of which the relationship between the finite
and the infinite is directly proportional to that - ultrasized -
between reality and idea of reality.
Only at this point we 'll can
accept a topography in which the different parts of the images live,
with the same authenticity of the natural and the spiritual world.
Through the eye of the feline – in which, symbolically, the alchemical sciences would reflect the dynamism and the permanence of everything - it produces a kind of magical “cosmomorfismo”: in detail of the realistic language is already held the visionary whole of different idealistic dimensions.
Everything intertwines and moves in a extreme liquidity, the dialogue between the various moments of aesthetic phenomenon is never finished, because an experimental sight able to give consistence to its thought, keeping unruly the becoming of adventurous imagination.
Nell'insieme di frammenti giustapposti, nella ricerca del dettaglio come massima sintesi della dimensione illusoria dell'immagine risiede la tangibilità di un mondo sovrasensibile, rubato al proprio tempo e ad un tempo indefinito riconsegnato.
Questa serie di rappresentazioni ideate e realizzate da Roberto Cami pare rivelarci connessioni occulte tra “scienze dello spirito” e “scienze esatte”, all'interno di una forma di simbolismo che trasfigura l'elemento naturale nella più ardita forma di immaginazione spirituale.
Le movenze dell'artista ricercano contaminazioni espressive che non creano equivoci estetici: ogni tentativo di ritrovare un principio organico naturale trova la propria diretta corrispondenza in suggestioni di carattere trascendentale.
L'immagine del gatto – ma, più universalmente, del felino – viene mescolata e confusa con elementi aspri, di una Natura scabra, memore di una sorta di spiritualità dolorosa e sofferta. L'animale mimetico in eccellenza, dialettico e misterico, feminino e antropomorfo ( si pensi, su tutte, alle varie interpretazioni del gatto in Balthus ) partecipa della visionarietà dell'artista quale elemento magnetico, dalle connotazioni intuitivamente mistiche e metafisiche.
In tal senso, le immagini realizzate da Roberto Cami, nella loro commistione di dettagli sfuggenti, non mai completamente definibili, compongono una sorta di liquida armonia visiva, al centro della quale il rapporto tra finito e infinito sia direttamente proporzionale a quello – ultradimensionato – tra realtà e idea di realtà.
Solo a questo punto potrà accettarsi una topografia all'interno della quale le differenti parti dell'immagine vivono, con la medesima autenticità, del mondo naturale e di quello spirituale.
Attraverso l'occhio del felino – in cui, simbolicamente, le scienze alchemiche rifletterebbero il dinamismo e la permanenza del tutto – si produce una sorta di cosmomorfismo magico: nel dettaglio del linguaggio realista è già trattenuto l'insieme visionario di differenti dimensioni idealistiche.
Tutto si intreccia e si muove in una liquidità estrema, il dialogo tra i vari momenti del fenomeno estetico non è mai concluso, in ragione di uno sguardo sperimentale capace di dare coerenza al proprio pensiero, mantenendo indisciplinato il divenire di un'immaginazione avventurosa.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Graduated in Architecture in Genoa, after the first work experiences at some professionals studios [engineering and interior design], I moved to Bologna [2001]. Here I worked in few architecture and interior design studios and manufacturing furnishing farms.
Since 2008 I devote also myself to photography and digital art, in a more meaningful way,
beginning my research in visual art, especially starting from
architecture and from building yard, but by developing projects in
different areas too, often with conceptual component, even
approaching and experimenting other techniques and expression forms.
I participate
from 2009 to artistic events and exhibitions, including at
international stage. I currently live in Bologna, Italy.
Breve Biografia
Laureato in Architettura a Genova, dopo le prime esperienze lavorative presso alcuni studi professionali [ ingegneria e interior design ], mi sono trasferito a Bologna [2001]. Qui ho collaborato, con alcuni studi professionali di architettura ed interior design ed aziende nella produzione di arredi.
Dal 2008 mi dedico alla fotografia e all’arte digitale in modo più significativo, iniziando così, una mia ricerca in arte visiva, partendo proprio dall'architettura e dal cantiere, ma sviluppando progetti in differenti ambiti, spesso con componente concettuale, avvicinandomi e sperimentando anche altre tecniche e forme espressive.
Dal 2009 partecipo ad eventi e mostre d'arte, anche a livello internazionale. Attualmente vivo a Bologna.
